Federal Trade Commission Consumer Advice

Don’t give your personal or financial information in response to a request that you didn’t expect. Honest organizations won’t call, email, or text to ask for your personal information, like your Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers.

If you get an email or text message from a company you do business with and you think it’s real, it’s still best not to click on any links. Instead, contact them using a website you know is trustworthy.

Or look up their phone number. Don’t call a number they gave you or the number from your caller ID.

Resist the pressure to act immediately. Honest businesses will give you time to make a decision. Anyone who pressures you to pay or give them your personal information is a scammer. Know how scammers tell you to pay. Never pay someone who insists that you can only pay with cryptocurrency, a wire transfer service like Western Union or MoneyGram, a payment app, or a gift card. And never deposit a check and send money back to someone.

Stop and talk to someone you trust. Before you do anything else, tell someone — a friend, a family member, a neighbor — what happened. Talking about it could help you realize it’s a scam.

From Our Neighbors

Many, many thanks for the wonderful afternoon out with the “potluck neighbors”. Good memories we will have!

Once again, I want to thank the Huntington Woods Homeowners Association for planning the community get-together a couple of months ago. I feel it makes a stronger community for all of us to come together to share our food and have fellowship in order to get to know one another. It was wonderful to watch a little girl enjoy a new found freedom to explore. Her mother made sure she was safe. It is nice to see a young family in the community.

How great to see those moments and to hear the sounds of people enjoying the company of others. It was a wonderful evening!

Thank you all,

Peggy B. Byers

Notes from the HOA President – September

Each month, I remind you of our HOA’s deep commitment to making Huntington Woods a welcoming, safe, and highly valued community. But as we work toward this vision, it’s important to clearly understand what a “highly valued community” really means. After all, to bring something to life, we first need to be able to describe it.

A highly valued community is one where every member feels connected, supported, and engaged. It’s a place where we all contribute to a strong sense of belonging and mutual respect. So, what does this look like in Huntington Woods? Here’s how we can all contribute to building the community we aspire to:

1. Shared Purpose and Values: When we unite around common goals and values, we create a sense of unity and a clear direction for our community. This shared vision is what drives us forward together.

2. Effective Communication: Open, transparent, and respectful communication is the foundation of trust. Our monthly newsletter is here to keep you informed, and our quarterly open Board meetings are an opportunity for all members to share their thoughts and concerns. And remember, you can reach out to any of our Board members at any time—we’re here to listen.

3. Inclusivity and Diversity: By embracing diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, we enrich our community and make Huntington Woods a place where everyone feels truly welcome.

4. Mutual Support: Our community’s strength lies in our willingness to support and uplift one another. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, sharing encouragement, or providing resources, we’re at our best when we’re there for each other.

5. Trust and Accountability: Trust is the cornerstone of strong relationships. Let’s be reliable, keep our commitments, and hold ourselves accountable to each other and to our community.

6. Leadership and Organization: Your HOA Board is here to guide our community, foster growth, and ensure everyone’s needs are met. We’re always open to your concerns and ideas, and we’re committed to responding in ways that benefit us all.

7. Shared Experiences and Activities: Regular events, activities, and traditions bring us together, creating shared memories and deepening our connections. These are the moments that make our community special.

8. Safety and Respect: Huntington Woods should be a safe place where everyone feels comfortable ex- pressing themselves. Mutual respect is essential to maintaining this environment, and it’s something we can all contribute to every day.

We firmly believe that Huntington Woods can embody all these qualities. But to make this vision a reality, it requires the commitment and active participation of every one of us. Together, we can create the highly valued community we all desire. Let’s continue to work hand-in-hand to make Huntington Woods a place we are proud to call home.

Thank you for being a vital part of this journey!

Steve Clark, HOA President
