Notes From The Board

FINANCIAL

Special Assessment
As you are aware, Huntington Woods membership approved an assessment in 2023 requiring all homeowners to pay $1,500 to build the capital reserve account to fund future projects. As of Jan 1, homeowners were required to begin paying their individual portion with many of our homeowners paying in full (thank you!). Understanding this is not possible for all homeowners, there are several payment options that I want to review below:

$1,500 – one time

$750 – two payments (Jan 24 & Jul 24 OR Jan 25)

$150 – ten payments

$75 – twenty payments

Homeowners who have not paid to date will begin seeing late fees added to their assessment beginning June 1 (in accordance with our bylaws).

Any concerns regarding payments can be directed to our Management Company (Thornburg and Associates) or directly to me, 717-414-4811. Thank you.

Termite Inspections

Warm weather is here and it is time for HW homeowners to have their units inspected for termites. A termite inspection of our units is required every couple years, but it’s always a good idea to have this done yearly. Termites swarm in warm weather, so if you see a lot of flying insects together, they are likely to be termites. Any termite swarms you see could either be drywood termites or subterranean termites.

Dry wood termites cause significant harm to the wood they infest, including attics and roofs or other wooden sur-faces exposed to the elements.

Subterranean termites live underground, and their damage begins in the wood closest to the ground such as in crawl spaces.

When you have had your inspection completed, please send your proof of inspection to Larry Miller, Unit 1721.

  • Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet trained
  • No running, rough play, loud music or general misconduct is permitted
  • No pets, glass containers or sharp objects of any kind are permitted in the pool area
  • Pool phone is installed for emergencies only
  • Clean up after yourself, leave umbrella(s) in closed position and lock the gate if you are the last to leave

Notes from the HOA President – May

Hello Neighbors,

We understand that in today’s busy world, getting to know our neighbors can be challenging. We might be occupied with various responsibilities, and it’s not always easy to find the opportunity to connect with those who live next door. However, we’re fortunate to live in such a wonderful community here in Hickory.

Thanks to the efforts of our HOA communication team, we all have access to a list of our neighbors’ names and addresses. And being so close together, we practically bump into each other every day, especially as spring blooms and summer approaches. As we enjoy the changing seasons, I want to encourage you to take the time to meet your neighbors. We all need someone to look out for us and care about our well-being, and that’s what makes a great community. Take that list of names and addresses you received and find an opportunity to introduce yourself to someone new. Let them know how much you appreciate living here and being their neighbor. Many in our community live alone and would love to make connections. Some may be facing challenges or health issues that leave them feeling isolated, and they need to know their neighbor’s care.

In the near future, we’ll be hosting our Huntington Woods Picnic, a fantastic opportunity to come together and strengthen our community bonds. Please make time to join us for this wonderful event. Your HOA board is dedicated to making Huntington Woods a welcoming, safe, and valued community where everyone wants to live. True welcoming begins with knowing our neighbors, while safety comes from looking out for each other’s well-being. Let’s all make an effort to do both in the coming month.

Steve Clark, HOA President

Neighborhood Market Place

Buy – Sell – Swap – Give Away

Our neighbor, Barbara Miller, brought the Book Nook to us and now has given us the Neighborhood Market Place.

She has redone our Community Bulletin Board and incorporated the Neighborhood Market Place into it. Residents (only) may post descriptive information (photos optional) about their item, along with date posted and contact information for up to 30 days. Thank you, Barbara!
