Notes From The Board

SWIMMING POOL
Thanks to the help of Eric Peake and Davis Bryant, we were able to open the Pool for Memorial Day weekend. The fence is painted on the inside and the water looks great. The outside of the fence will be painted in the coming days – so bear with us and we apologize for any inconvenience this might cause in the first days after the pool is open. We were planning to open the pool earlier this month, but the weather was not in our favor and then later the county did not approve the pool due to a regulation change for the pump. We need to get a new flow meter, however, our pool contractor and the county were lined up to have the pool ready and open by Memorial Day weekend.

LANDSCAPING

Where did all the rain go? Hopefully we will not have another dry year, as this stresses the plants and trees. The Landscapers are continuing to trim bushes and will also start cleaning gutters in June. We will be walking around with Dan of Stumps by Dan tree service looking at trees sometime in the next several weeks and will get a bid to remove several dead trees and cut limbs away from units.

Skylights

This is the time of year that we start to think about what can be done about dirty skylights. The cost of cleaning skylights is the responsibility of homeowners, but because our roofs are older and delicate, easily open to damage, it is an HOA rule about who can walk on our roofs.
At this point in time, only Richard Thompson (228-2697) or workers from the G.W. Witherspoon Construction Company (312-4852) are authorized for this work.

Are you the One?

Are you the one not following the rules and causing our community recycling and trash woes?
If members of our community don’t follow the rules, we all are penalized.

  1. The trash isn’t picked up if trucks don’t have clear access to dumpsters.
  2. Recycling isn’t picked up if food, garbage, and other non-recyclable items are put in the recycling carts.
  3. Your HOA dues are used to pay the $35 fee every time the city has to wash out a recycle cart.
  4. Close doors on dumpster to keep critters out.
  5. Be the one who helps our community!

REVIEW RECYCLING INFORMATION

Notes From the HOA President – June 2023

Hello Neighbors,
Recently there have been times when the sanitation workers have refused to empty one of our dumpsters or they have refused to pick up some recycling.
They are unable to pick the dumpsters up to empty them if items are stacked between the dumpsters and the fence or if placed in front of the dumpster.
Please pay attention to the signs posted there so you know where to leave your discards and please be sure that any contractor or other workers in your home know
the rules of what they can do when discarding refuge from their work on your home.
They have refused to pick up recycling because garbage or other inappropriate items have been placed in the recycling carts. Not only do they refuse to pick up the recycling, they charge us $35 to clean the carts so they can be used again. Please review our recycling information sheet.

As we have shared with you before, Larry Miller, Architecture Chair, has had some difficulty during this busy building season, locating contractors to work on our buildings. He has now met with several contractors and prioritized needed deck work by seriousness of safety issues. So work should begin soon on the needs in Huntington Woods.
